About Me (Post #1)

Well, good morning. Since this is my first post I will admit that I have no clue what I’m doing. I have read many posts and had a desire to blog, but it will take me a bit of time to figure this format out.

First, a bit about myself. My name is Tracy and I live in Michigan. I’ve been married to my hubby for 35+ years now. We have three sons who are married and have each given us a grandchild. There is one more scheduled to arrive in March, 2019. So exciting!

I love to quilt! I started around the age of 8 or 9 doing stamped embroidery on pillowcases and have done some kind of sewing ever since. I enjoy hardanger, counted cross stitch, but mostly quilting. Until the recently, I would have defined my style as traditional quilting, very matchy matchy. But within the past 2 years or so, my style has changed. Now, I have a few wool appliqué quilts in progress, I have moved onto scrappy quilt blocks (still mostly traditional patterns), and now I’m learning free motion quilting. Two of my favorite bloggers are Bonnie Hunter (quiltville.blogspot.com) and Anna Bates (wooliemammoth.blogspot.com). I have even gone back to their blogging beginnings and read many, if not all, of their posts.

My own personal sewing space has been in a second bedroom, which really doesn’t have the room I need. I have a larger Koala sewing table, bookshelves, and now a sit-down long arm (mid-arm?) machine and table. Our basement is in the process of getting finished (adding walls, flooring, paint, etc.) and it will become my “studio”, with a full bathroom and office also. Never fear, hubby has a workroom down there also. I have allowed him to have a little space. LOL! I am just having a little trouble with my patience level. I want it done now. I know, I know, all good things come to those who wait. Is that how the saying goes?

I am hoping that by writing about the organization I will need to do to set up my new sewing area, and figuring out all of my UFO’s (UnFinished Objects in quilt-speak), I will be able to corral myself. I feel like I’m all over the place with my projects. Many started, hardly any finished. I feel like I’m an organized person by nature, but have lost her somewhere along the way.

I will be shocked if I actually get any readers on my blog. I might tell my sister and BFF about it, but will not be advertising it. This will be a blog about my life, quilting, family, personal habits I need to improve, etc.

Until next time—Tracy
